Sure, the devil is not a new thing in metal. He has often been quoted and homage has often been paid to him.
But never in the contemporary way that SANKT VELTEN does.
Evil appears with new names and in different guises.
One of these names is: SANKT VELTEN, a rarely used synonym for the devil.
SANKT VELTEN is the musical alter ego of Arnd, axeman of the German thrash metal band DARKNESS.
Tom and SANKT VELTEN know each other from the DARKNESS days, together they recorded the DARKNESS album
‘Defenders of Justice’. Tom played bass on the successful album ‘The New Machine of Liechtenstein’ by
German thrashers HOLY MOSES, was bassist for ANGEL DUST and has played with famous musicians such as
Jörg Michael (RUNNING WILD, SAXON, STRATOVARIUS, among others), Matthias Moser (S.A.D.O.) and
Leszek Szpigiel (MEKONG DELTA; SCANNER).
Eldar Ibrahimovic (Piper) is a Croatian drummer who played with many different metal acts,
but is most known for being a part of War-Head, Kymera, Symbolic and Gothic. He played the drums
and produced the debut album of SANKT VELTEN, "The discreet Charm of Evil".
In the current line-up, he is responsible for oiling up the clockworks at Gates of Hell
and will help SANKT VELTEN spread the charm of evil in its percussive form.
The Evil…
…does not appear with noise and in the shape of monsters. The Evil is not violent, loud and evident. The Evil lurks inwardly; it is literate, sophisticated and polite.

SANKT VELTEN is the musical alter ego of Arnd, guitarist and original member of the German Essen-based thrashers DARKNESS.
The SANKT VELTEN debut album “The discreet Charm of Evil”, released in 2019, has received consistently good reviews.
After a five-year break due to Covid and various line-up changes that made new productions and concerts impossible, the band with Arnd and original member Eldar Ibrahimovic (War-Head)
has finally found a new member. The new man on bass is none other than Tom Becker, who is known as the bassist of the German thrashers HOLY MOSES and recorded the successful album
“The New Machine of Liechtenstein”.
Tom and SANKT VELTEN aka Arnd already know each other from the DARKNESS days, they recorded the DARKNESS album “Defenders of Justice” together.
“What If” is the first single by SANKT VELTEN in the new line-up, released August 16th 2024.
